Alice in Wonderland Pantomime Auditions

Tumble down the rabbit hole with Highcliffe Charity Players!

We're looking forward to bringing the wonderfully curious world of Alice in Wonderland to the stage, and we'd love you to be part of it!

Whether you fancy taking on one of our larger characters or would prefer to be part of the chorus, there's a place for you in Wonderland.

You can choose to audition for a principal role or for the chorus/ensemble. It's completely up to you!

Who can audition?

Auditions are open to anyone aged 16 or over who has completed their GCSEs.

Auditioning for a Principal Role?

If you're hoping to land one of our named characters, here's what you'll need to prepare:

• A solo song: Please prepare a song of approximately 1 minute 30 seconds. Think carefully about your song choice and consider the character and role you're auditioning for. Choose something that shows off your voice and gives us an idea of how you might approach the character.

• Acting: Scripts and selected extracts for the principal roles have been chosen and are on our website for you to perform on audition day.

• Dance: There will be a chorus dance taught on the day, which will be performed in small groups.

Please note: All principal role auditions will be CLOSED auditions. This means that only the audition panel will be present while you perform.

Facilities will be available for both backing tracks and live keyboard accompaniment.

A note about Alice

We are looking for someone to play Alice with a playing age of approximately 15–25 years old.

All other characters are open to interpretation, so don't rule yourself out based on age or appearance!

Auditioning for Chorus / Ensemble?

If you'd rather be part of the chorus and help bring the madness and magic of Wonderland to life, we'd love to see you!

For ensemble auditions, you will:

• Learn and perform a chorus song together as a group.

• Learn a chorus dance, which will be performed in small groups.

You don't need to prepare a solo song if you are auditioning for ensemble only.

Audition Day – Running Order

Auditions will begin at 12 noon.

• 12:00pm – Chorus / Ensemble Auditions: We will start with the group singing and dance auditions. These will involve learning a chorus song together and a dance routine, with performances taking place in small groups.

• Approximately 1:30pm–2:00pm – Ensemble auditions finish.

• From 2:00pm onwards – Principal Role Auditions: We will move on to individual auditions for those going for principal roles. These will be closed auditions, with only the audition panel present.

Please note that timings are approximate and may vary depending on numbers and how the auditions progress.

If you are auditioning for a principal role, please make sure you are available from 12 noon, as you will also be required to take part in the chorus dance audition.
